Traditional Chinese Medicine

Keeping the body in a state of balance

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an integrated system, which has been used for thousands of years to treat injury and illness.

About TCM

TCM likens the human body to a highly complex electrical circuit; it must be kept in good working order. If the circuit breaks down, illness results.

How TCM works?

Health is achieved by keeping the body in a state of balance. Imbalance in the body leads to blockages in the flow of qi (energy) along pathways known as meridians.  Imbalance can result from a variety of areas including: diet, stress, emotions, lack of sleep.

Contrary to popular belief

Contrary to popular belief, acupuncture is not a system on its own. Acupuncture is only one of eight therapies that make up the TCM system.

Eight Branches of TCM

The eight branches of TCM are:

  • Acupuncture
  • Cupping
  • Gua Sha
  • Herbal Medicine
  • Moxabustion
  • Eastern Nutrition
  • Tai Ji (Tai Chi)
  • Tuina
