Michelle Uy - R. TCMP, R. Ac

Hello! I’m Michelle and I’m a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner and Registered Acupuncturist. I’ve always had a deep interest in health and the mind-body connection. I believe that your external landscape is a direct manifestation of your internal landscape. I came to practicing Chinese Medicine through my own health challenges: digestive issues, fatigue and always feeling cold. I’ve come a long way since my first acupuncture treatment in 2010, but I can whole-heartedly say that the journey up till this point has been totally worth it. It continues to evolve and teach me many lessons. Care and safety are of the utmost priority when you step into my treatment room. I promise to listen. I want to hear your story because it is an important one and it is a step forward in healing. Chinese Medicine’s approach to health is to treat the whole person – symptoms and root cause. I also like to focus on the pillars of good health - reducing stress, enhancing sleep quality and improving digestion. My wish for myself is to live a vibrant and sustainable lifestyle. This is also my wish for you.

More of my story

In another life I was a yoga teacher for ten years. I continue to have a yoga and meditation practice and it continues to be a grounding force in my life.

I was also a theatre administrator for five years. These days I much prefer to be an audience member.

I am currently in a 200-hour post-graduate program called Fukushin.  We’re learning to diagnose through abdominal palpation.  It’s hearty and will add to my tool belt of diagnosing more effectively.

I live in Toronto with my husband, daughter and rescue cat Gandalf the Grey.

I volunteer at the Toronto Humane Society.

My go-to simple joy is night walking, especially if there’s a full moon!

The origins of Auntie Flow

I can be a bit sassy, but it’s all in good fun!  Aunties are fun, aren’t they?  I hope to infuse some of that light-heartedness and laughter into my practice.  After all, taking charge of your health does not have to be so dull and serious.

Flow has to do with the essence of what Chinese Medicine is built upon: When Qi (life force) flows efficiently and properly in our bodies, balance and harmony can be achieved.  When the flow is disrupted, stagnation occurs and the body begins to break down.

We have a lot of life sayings that back this up. ‘Go with the flow’, ‘Abundance is a flow of energy through you’, ‘Those who flow as life flows know they need no other force’.
